McDonnell Douglas MD-83 (N9681B)
It is hoped that American will paint the last Mad Dog in the new livery as a fitting end for the type...

Dwight and Myself will both agree with that one!
Excellent shot, Mark! I would pay money to see that happen!
Howdy, Mark. I've been tracking the AA MD fleet as more and more of them are WFU and last week I saw that on May 22 this one had arrived at DFW from DAY ... and had not flown since. And it still hasn't. It has now been 12 days. This click of yours might turn out to be the last capture in the FA gallery of N9681B "in the air" on an AAL revenue flight. This is a super snap of it. Bravo x 5!
Thanks Gary. Kind of bittersweet then I think. When I first started spotting in Toronto in the early nineties this is all we would see from the American airlines. We see an awful lot of American and Delta here! Then they vanished! American, Delta and United 757's, 727's and the Mad Dogs! When they started to return for whatever reason flocks of young spotters would come out to see them. Nowadays, we get about two per day. We got N7547A from DFW today, landed at 17:17 (Eastern time) and we'll see that one again tomorrow (Sat) at 11:14am (Eastern time). We are also expecting N426AA from DFW at 22:28 tonight. Super fast turnaround times, 45 minutes sometimes!
