Many pilots have a false belief in the anti-ice/deice capabilities of their aircraft and their own abilities to handle ice. A "Known Ice" certification lets you legally go but by no means lets you just hammer away in anything. Know before you go and have a plan. Up, down, or 180, If ice starts to accumulate, get out, NOW! When the options are gone, you're on borrowed time.
