This is a Hawker Hurricane Mark 1 fighter of early WWII vintage. I think.
According to the FAA, it is a Canadian built Hawker Hurricane Mark 12.
One of my favourite old planes. Beautiful.
N96RW, 1941? Canadian Car & Foundry HURRICANE MKXII
Yep, Mk XII. Note 12-gun wing, 4 303s inboard, 2 more outboard. Plenty of room in that fat wing compared to the Spitfire!
Spits, take the fighter escorts, Hurricanes to the BOMBERS!
knifeedge - That kind of armament was important for chewing up Rommel's forces during Operation Torch as the roundels indicate. Hadn't seen the fins protecting the pilot's eyes from looking straight into the exhaust pipes before, makes sense and I have seen similar and wondered on other airplanes. Could also be misinterpreting them completely perhaps someone can enlighten me, assuming there's a match on the starboard side may contribute to my delusion.
