John mcGeoghan - I believe there is one (1) example of a B-17 showing in the U.K. Civil registry... "G-BEDF", which is a B-17G model.
From the U.K. Civil Aviation Authority website:
http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid=1&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=detailnosummary&fullregmark=BEDF
http://publicapps.caa.co.uk/modalapplication.aspx?catid=1&pagetype=65&appid=1&mode=reg&fullregmark=BEDF
It was originally assigned USAAF s/n 44-85784, as a Lockheed-Vega built B-17G-105-VE with c/n 8693, according to Joe Baugher's published information.
Mr. Baugher further provides this additional history:
"B-17G built by Lockheed-Vega Airplane Company as part of pooled production... converted to EB-17G and to ETB-17G. Sold to Institut Geographique National of France as F-BGSR. Sold to American users as N17TE but never taken to USA. Moved to Britain and re-registered as G-BEDF. Currently flying as *Sally B* with B-17 Preservation Ltd of Duxford with false tail number 124485 (Memphis Belle). Used in remake of film *Memphis Belle*".

Thank you very much Cliffe l.learned very much from your posts..
Who would have thought the only B17 in U.K. is owned by David Gold!
Fair play.

John, you're very welcome and thanks for the kind words. David Gold is certainly one of only a few who can lay claim to ownership of a B-17!
I Love It!
for the record the "Belle" was an F model
Boeing B-17F-10-BO Flying Fortress, AAF Ser. No. 41-24485, the last variant w/o the chin turret -- but heck this one is STILL flat gorgeous :-)

Sadly, this crew and aircraft perished in a mid-air collision at the Dallas air show last week. RIP!
