Antonov An-2 (VH-CCE)
Jamestown Airshow, South Australia, October 18, 2015.
Comments
Until this day I wasn’t aware that AN2s existed in Australia. Technically an AN-2TP this was Polish built by Wytwornia Sprzetu Komunikacyjnego-Mielec. As of this post, one other is currently shown on the register, VH-YNT.
Actually seeing AN-2s flying is interesting to me. I helped keep track of the NVA Air Force during the war, but we never got to see the aircraft. Nice to actually see them perform.
Postcard photo! * x 5 + *
Thank you Gary and for your comment Alan. Any idea if the NVA's were Russian built?
I saw one of these at Oakland CA USA during a mid 90s Airshow(All white) at North Field - the same weekend Steve Picatti flew the Canberra to Australia after extensive rework. I have photos somewhere in the hangar there at Oakland, and the next day Steve flew over the Airshow on a wing waggle and off to Honolulu....1st Leg.
Oh and 5x for Oz Gman - def a Postcard shot.
Thank you Tom and for the extra info.
Wonderful photo stream. Lots of interesting aircraft.
Thank you Fiona.
Love the Paint Job too!!
