Cliff............

Thank you for kind comments on pic.

Great photo! Well done! Just as an aside, the T-33 is the trainer version of the F-80 which has/had the same name.

Great pic! I actually got to go for a dawn patrol ride in one of these bad boys at Tyndall AFB many years ago (95th FITS)

I believe the P80 was re-designated F80 in March, 1947, when the USAAF officially became the USAF. My father checked out in F80s at Williams AFB around 1947 or '48. I was a bit too young at the time to remember much about our time at Willie. He flew 80s with the 36th Squadron of the 8th Fighter-Bomber Wing in Korea, performing in a ground support capacity. (French-fried North Korean soldiers...anyone?) For many years afterward he flew T-33s when hopping from one AFB to another, including the years he spent with the 29th FIS at Malmstrom AFB, Great Falls, Montana. The 29th flew F-94Ds, a relatively short-lived F-80/T-33 variant that carried both pilot and Radar Operator.

Beautiful shot of a fun airplane to fly. Had the opportunity to get some stick time in a Navy T2-V in 1956 while a Cadet in the C.A.P. Then in the Air Force got stick time in a T-33 thanks to my pilot friend. Great memories.

The T-33 was a common sight at KFAT in the 1970's and 80's. California ANG used them as a "target" for the F-106's to practice "intercepts" over the Pacific. Great spotting memories here! 5-stars!! Thank you very much for posting Ken! Cheers!!
