How can you take a 650mm photo with a 200-500mm lense?

Great shot! How does a teleconverter work out? I have heard that it is really hard to focus. Is it true? Does it work?

Converter / expander is but a simple magnifier, typically 2x. This means the light getting to the appature is only 1/4 of the ambient, but as today's cameras measure behind the onboard lens, you don't need to fret about it. FOCUS and motion need special care, just like all telephoto lens.
