T-38s for Thunderbirds flew in 1974 I believe. These 4 originals were acquired by Rueben (Buzz) Kaplan, owner of Owatonna Tool Company, an avid air enthusiast. Buzz had the planes installed at the Owatonna airport entrance (I forget the year) of which he was a co-owner of the FBO there. He also owned the worlds only flying Marchetti Savoia, an Italian wood and fabric, open cockpit amphibious plane.
