McDonnell Douglas MD-88 (N905DL)
N905DL is the oldest MD88 in operation in the world! I saw it coming into DSM as Delta 1532 is arriving from Atlanta at 4:20 PM on runway 23. Photo taken March 4, 2020 with Nikon D3200 at 400mm.
Comments
N905DL is likely to be the MD88 that will go to the Delta Airlines Museum. The reason I think this is the case as this aircraft is the only one in the 901DL-911DL series not stored and it was in all liveries that the MD88 was in, a total of four liveries.
Great catch of a historic old Dog, Dwight. Geez, I miss these sooo much. It wasn't all that long ago that Allegiant, Delta, and AAL all flew them here daily. Now, nadda one. Full Five for this shot!
Thank you so much, Gary! Yeah, after 2021 even the Delta ones will be gone. The MD88 retires October 31st and the MD90 sometime in 2021.
