Plotting its logistics growth path, Amazon Air is set to add a third aircraft type to its fast-growing freighter fleet. The retail and tech giant is slated to induct ATR turboprop freighters, two people familiar with the company’s planning tell The Air Current.

Since its founding in 2015, Amazon Air has been rapidly adding Boeing 767-300 and 737-800 converted freighters as it builds out its operations, but a large turboprop freighter opens a new front in its strategy as it expands its reach to smaller communities.
