Governor vows to fight union at 787 Boeing plant
CHARLESTON, S.C. • Gov. Nikki Haley says she will fight attempts to unionize Boeing's massive 787 assembly plant in North Charleston. (www.stltoday.com) المزيد...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
I live here in WA. That 44.57 dollars here doesn't go very far. Have you tried buying a house here lately. Helped a friend look in Gig Harbor, miles from Boeing. 400k might get you started. I have worked for unions that were low-key and negotiated fairly with the employer/employee in mind. The union dues were worth it because the management had respect for the employee And that respect didnt didn't have to come from a threat of a law suite or from some government agency stepping in.Getting rid of bad employees...no doubt a bit of a trial. But, every place has bad employees. I have tried to get rid of my share and there is very little difference with a union as opposed to without. HR is scared shitless of lawsuits.
Well, is she going to send in the State militia, dogs and firehoses to break up the elections? Wouldn't be the first time for a Governor. So who will better respond to the rank and file needs?
Well, it doesn't say anything about a card signing to determine if they even want to have an election. Can the Union just request an election uninvited now?
Just as business brought on it's own woes with terrible labor practices, so too have the unions brought on their own set of woes. The pendulum swings both ways.
They said we couldn't build tires in SC. We now make more tires than any state in the country. They said we couldn't build cars in SC, now every BMW X-Series in the world is built here. GE builds some of the largest gas turbines in the world in Greenville across the street from where I'm sitting. We build guns, heavy equipment, high tech carbon fibers, robots, solar panels, transmissions...... I could go on and on and on. Guess what? Ain't a DAMN union in any of those places. Get over it.
Amen, raise costs and they will have to move to stay competitive with govt subsidized AIRBUS.
I hear you and well said....
