First two Singapore Airlines A380 to be stripped for parts
According to Reuters, a German investment company said it would strip two Singapore Airlines A380 for parts after failing to find an airline willing to keep them flying following the decision by the airline not to keep them in service. Singapore Airlines launched A380 services in December 2007, but returned the first two aircraft to their German financiers some 10 years later after deciding not to extend their lease. Wait a second. I thought someone bought or leased this planes and was gonna start up a airline with them or am I missing something here. However on another note it goes to show that used a380’s don’t have a market except parts. It is a collossal of an aircraft that’s hard to fill and expensive to fly.

MSN006 is going to Hi Fly while MSN003 and MSN005 are the aircraft in question that are being scrapped for parts. The registration of the second aircraft that is destined for Hi Fly is still unknown. SIA is retiring a total of five aircraft that are coming off their leases in the coming months.

They were going to get parted out eventually. The owners were undoubtedly hoping to get an extra two years of rent out of them first for Singapore has likely paid off the capital price with their lease and this would then be pure profit.
