Airbus mimics nature with 'Bird of Prey' concept plane
Airbus (AIR.PA) on Friday unveiled a concept aircraft with splayed wingtips and a fanned tail inspired by the feathers of an eagle as it experiments with “biomimicry” technology that could eventually lead to quieter landings and less pollution. (uk.reuters.com) المزيد...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
When i read "Bird of Prey" i immediately think of Klingon's lol.
What does it eat?
Paint it PURPLE and you'll have a - Flying PURPLE people eater :)
Well been in this business for 50+ years so Never say Never.
While the name kinda fits what it looks like, I don't think any airline's marketing people would go anywhere near a name like that for a passenger aircraft.
might work....might not. There are already concepts with more normal looking wing shapes but incorporating multiple ailerons with a variety of configurations including split surfaces and winglets...and no vertical tail. See X48B. This seems to mimic a birds wing quite well and with intuitively less drag. But that's just a swag....interested to see how it pans out.
