Well, another example to boot of duplicate work by 2 government agencies. The FBI taking credit for the problem and saying they have been aware of it since 2008 at SAC and the FAA coming out with their website in the last year. I'm like Zachary here, until it is recognized as SERIOUS and local law starts doing something about it, nothing will happen except a bunch of mouthing and posturing. Any city that has a major airport needs to start beefing up patrols on those approach paths and SLAM THE VIOLATER HARD. Sad that some may just be kids not knowing any better but a few good examples would probably stop it.

Additional regulation is not needed, just enforcement of current laws.

Epidemic level you say? Hmm...perhaps that's because you aren't doing anything more than giving these people a slap on the wrist and then sending them home! Mark my words, this will cause an accident one of these days with life loss, and then all of the sudden it will be a scramble to find a solution...

No diffrent than internet virus stuff they cant do anything about it or the hackers??Give me a break with the Sats they have that can detect lightning strikes why not the laser attacks also? They need to carry the same weight as drug sellers and meth dealers get. This would help out but what they probalby will try to do is like hand guns take them off of the street so only the crooks will have them.

Epidemic Laser Attacks On Airplanes Increasing

On its blog, the bureau says that incidents are projected to reach 3,700 this year—compared to just 283 in 2005. That’s a rise of more than 1,100 percent. And that doesn’t include the thousands of attacks that go unreported every year. George Johnson, a supervisory federal air marshal who is a liaison officer with the FBI, says the number of attacks is almost reaching an “epidemic level.
