With northbound Hurricane Sandy storming toward the East Coast and expected to arrive Tuesday, Civil Air Patrol’s Northeast Region and the Florida and Massachusetts wings have approved missions to move aircraft inland, and members throughout potentially affected areas stand ready to assist as needed. My ground team is standing by!
The only thing that stands between CAP members and their assigned missions is the mountain of paperwork they have to do! Let's see.... After 16+ years of experience with them as a Mission Pilot in SAR, CD and Homeland Security, the first day of MP training I learned this fact: No CAP mission is released until the weight of the paperwork equals or exceeds the weight of the airplane...
