Airbus's bicycle-style airline seat revealed

تم الإرسال

How far will the airline industry go to squeeze in more passengers per plane? The question arises after France-based Airbus Operations submitted a patent in Europe for a new passenger seat that resembles a bicycle seat with a small backrest. It has no tray table, no headrest and very little legroom. (www.smh.com.au) المزيد...

Whoever came up with this idea has no safety concepts in mind and is above selfish. Where are the safety provisions in case of turbulence or the possibility of impact? Will older or handicapped passengers have different accommodations in traditional seats? As the article states this concept may never be used. If Airbus is smart they'll keep the engineer who came up with this permanently stowed in an A-380's baggage hold.

Yeah, but they also say if it is ever used then there work is protected. I think the baggage hold is too good for that engineer. He has way to much time on his hands.

i hope this is a joke, let alone the absence of any safety standards

Airbus files patent for saddle seats on planes

For air travelers who like to gripe about being cramped in economy, here comes another warning that they've never had it so good.
Airbus has filed a patent application showing detailed renderings of what may be the plane seat of the future.
The design shows narrow rows of folding saddle seats with low backrests on which passengers perch rather than recline.
The patent application, which makes even the most budget of budget airline seating look luxurious, was published last month and is available for viewing by the public.
