According to the tail, it looks as if it's based out of Ramstein. The 130 is still a kick ass aircraft.

Finally the transport guys get to show off. It's usually just the fighter jocks. I will fly anywhere in that aircraft with that guy. Outstanding.

Doens't the Air Force learn from previous accidents when heavy bombers (Fairchild AFB B-52)or heavy transport jets (C-17 in Alaska) where forced to do aerobatics end up boring a big hole in the ground with the losses of several pilots lives. When I saw this $ 70 million C-130J do incredible things this is what came to mind. Well it is only money and the government has lots of it so.

I spent many nights NOE in the back of those Sicily DZ taxis in my days with the Eighty Duece. I'll take one of those over any of the big boys when I need to stay amongst the weeds to make it to the DZ. Well done to the pilot! Outstanding display!

I had no idea they could do that in a C-130, what a performance.

I actually saw some of it at work earlier today, and what I saw was fantastic, but was waiting until I got home to fully enjoy it, and now seem to have a problem.

There's a glitch as I was able to view it earlier. But now it says it's a private video. I'm a member of Vimeo, but I can't find it in their library either. Hope they get it fixed so I can show it to my friends.

Thanks Sean for finding a different link to the video. Obviously, the aircraft commander knows his C130 stuff. For myself, I would find the automated warning reminders pretty annoying, both during the non-standard maneuvers, but especially "warning" during the landing sequence. Reminds me of me, instructing a new student during the second or third lesson! :)

They tried this at a Canadian airshow in Edmondton and the wings folded up. A check pilot on the C-130 told me that the plane was not rated over 45 degrees bank. That was on a mid-1970's C-130.

I would not have wanted to be the Loadie with the back door open on that one.

I flew the B Model in the '60's and it was legal to 60 degrees (USAF) and often went more (especially on a 360 Overhead pattern at a Fighter Base). Really, the airplane couldn't care less about bank angle- just G-Forces- and 60 degrees is only 2 G's.

Only Spar collapse I knew about was the Forest Service Contract A Model dropping retardant.

This is not your father's C130! This is the new generation.

A long way from my old 3-bladed A model! Still, never complain about a plane that got you home.
