Gun Slips Past Nude Screener Machine in TSA Test

تم الإرسال

An undercover TSA agent was able to get through security at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport with a handgun during testing of the enhanced-imaging body scanners, according to a high-ranking, inside source at the Transportation Security Administration. The source said the undercover agent carried a pistol in her undergarments when she put the body scanners to the test. The officer successfully made it through the airport's body scanners every time she tried, the source said. "In… (www.nbcdfw.com) المزيد...

You may want to rewrite that headline.

"I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747," Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada. - April, 2010

Rafi Sela was former chief security officer of the Israel Airport Authority and a 30-year veteran in airport security and defence technology who helped design the security at Ben Gurion.

How did she make it through the metal detector? Or did she bypass it by saying she had a metal implant (like hip or knee)? I agree about re-writing the headline.

The multi-million dollar technology is not any better than the personnel manning the machine and interpreting the images.
It is suggestive that camouflaging techniques may preclude the finding of some weapons. I suspect that this undercover TSA agent went thru screenings at various times of day and with various screeners manning the backscatter displays.

I agree. The hand held metal detector would have alarmed for the gun I believe... There are still alot of improvements in the works.

what needs to happen is having the tsa personial to go and get retrained and then go thru a controlled screening senerao

The Headline is the only reason I read this.

Training and retraining are constantly ongoing at TSA. The equipment (technology) are usually what needs upgrading to a status that is either too unaffordable at the time, and needs improvements for the screeners to do their job as accurately as possible. From what I have observed, the TSA screeners are passionate about safety and security, but the screening process is constantly being re-evaluated for our safety.

Now do you believe that this is true! I mean this is probably just a down play on the ability of the body scanners. Yes the TSA are passionate about their job but they are human and make mistakes.

It is beyond me why anyone can continue to excuse these buffoons and quietly tolerate not only their incompetence but unbelievable intrusion into the privacy of the citizenry -- not to mention some 40,000 unnecessary federal employees just ballooning the deficit. This entire agency should be thrown into the scrapheap of 'reform' and airport security returned to the airlines as their responsibility. I venture to guess they will not feel the need to use 'nude' scanning machines that turn out to be ineffective anyway or groin pat-downs of their customers. We simply cannot afford to live in a risk-free commercial aviation environment (that is unattainable anyway), and even if we could, we should not surrender our dignity, privacy and time to a government agency that provides only a veneer of safety anyway (what about the freight in the belly, for example????)........

The freight in the cargo area is also screened and sometimes searched, in a separate area than passenger screening. TSA does find many threats in both cases. On NO occasion is a pat-down of the groin, crotch, or front of the breasts permitted.

The "wonders" of how she got thru are simple people...Either she has a very fine set of boobs, which the PERVERT agents were all gawking at and looking at nothing else...or...she was so butt-ugly that she would make a train take a dirt road with boobs that gave her the appearance to have 4 knee-caps, thus making the PERVERT TSA agents turn away and throw up. Why the American public continues to tolerate the TSA clowns is beyond me. Nothing...and I mean NOTHING is so important that I compromise my diginity and go thru a body scanner that shows me basically butt naked just to ride on an airplane and in my opinion...people who still fly and continue to embrace this system are complete fools and borderline COMMUNIST. If people refused to fly for 3 or 4 days, the airline carriers would put a stop to it. Ride the train people...yes it takes alittle longer, but the scenery is much better...including the service. No more airplanes for me with this TSA crap...I go on the Cho-Cho and love it.

The TSA’s response,

"Our security officers are one of the most heavily tested federal workforces in the nation. We regularly test our officers in a variety of ways to ensure the effectiveness of our technology, security measures and the overall layered system. For security reasons, we do not publicize or comment on the results of covert tests, however advanced imaging technology is an effective tool to detect both metallic and nonmetallic items hidden on passengers."

Perhaps it was a long barreled revolver and the screener mistook the cylinder for one thing and the barrel for something else?

TSA- 'Thousands Sexually Assaulting' burning 'Billions of Others Money'.

Incremental totalitarianism. The texting & TV-addicted sheep bleating about how happy they are to trade their blood-bought liberties for a contrived, deceitfully premised 'security'.

My Dad & Uncle had to fight an earlier gang of National Socialists. From a German jail in 1923 THEIR leader wrote 'What luck for rulers that men do not think'. "Baaa-aahhh. Feel me up, my kids too. I feeel SAAAFE now..."

What a magnificent response to "an unamed source said" Look at all the foolish comments by people who never question the source of the agenda of the person "reporting such and outrage". With no cooboration, the unamed source should collect his/her $100 for the tip to the reporter and crawl back under his/her favorite rock.

Hey Amulfo! You are now out of the closet! I'd bet they figure out your route and catch you in the near future. If you want a secret, don't tell anyone. :-)

Not necessary to re-write the headline.. that's exactly what they are!!!!

The worst part about this story is that the TSA agents who missed the gun REPEATEDLY were not disciplined.. how in the HELL are we supposed to feel safe if nobody is keeping these people in check?????????

crk112,

The answer to your question is simple. You just create another government agency to supervise the TSA...

nobody bothered to comment on the fact that there is a picture with the article, yet the TSA has gone on record repeatedly that images are not stored. Hmmmmm. Another lie from a useless organisation who's only purpose is to create jobs for otherwise unemployable citizens and to make the average sheeple feel safe.

as an airline employee, I would like to suggest the TSA employees spend as much energy focusing on the screens and items, rather then the female passengers' attributes and then critiquing them to the other TSA employees.

I would feel safer if military or law enforcement personnell were responsible for the security. I know the powers that be felt the traveling public would be intimidated by the presence of military/law enforcement. I W A N T intimidation....not an almost open invitation to push the envelope! Our security is a laughing stock. Look at ELAL security and make a comparison....there is none!

Not to mention the background checks/drug screening has been done thouroughly. Within nine months after implementation of the TSA, it was reported in the Airport Press that 118 convicted felons were found to be manning checkpoints!!!!! I also believe that people were hired to reduce the number of people on public assistance.........which had been suggested to me. I believe it.
