You're right, but my support is based on being given the opportunity that other POC and women haven't had. If they complete the program, they should be held to the same standards in skill and knowledge. NO relaxing the standards, NO exceptions. I will not support anything less.

I gave one in another post about a family who refused to allow a qualified painter with a reputable company paint their house because he was Black and they felt he wasn't qualified as a result. Yes, it absolutely does still happen.

That's because, obviously, masks don't prevent you from getting COVID, and they never should have been promoted as such. Packages of masks I've purchased in the past had that disclaimer on the packaging. Our governor, who allegedly wears a mask all the time, got COVID a few months back. A mask does help in reducing your spittle flying everywhere and possibly infecting another person, and that is why I wear one when I'm around crowds or indoors. And I absolutely refuse to wear 2 masks. That is absolutely ridiculous and unnecessary.

There are many applications where there is an option to not disclose your race/ethnicity/gender. Also, there are still a lot of instances where being Black = Automatic DQ. Thankfully it isn't nearly as widespread as it once was, but it still happens.

If they are subject to the same standards as everyone else who has completed the program before them, I fail to see what the problem is here. The thing that worries me is that the old canard where if someone is a/an (insert occupation here) and is a POC or a woman, he or she must automatically be unqualified, will come up yet again. In my area of the country, there was an incident where a white family in a wealthy suburb refused to allow a Black person to paint her house, because they assumed he was unqualified, even though he was working for a reputable company. How is that even remotely acceptable? I'm working my tail off to become an IT professional. I'm Black and approaching middle-age. Am I automatically unqualified as a result? I don't think so.

I've done all the research. I am still taking the vaccine, especially given my preexisting conditions that could KILL ME if I get COVID, and in fact my second dose is next week. I don't necessarily trust Big Pharma or the Gov'mint, but I do trust science. I encourage those who are skeptics to trust the science as well.

Kinda like how Fox, OAN and Newsmax are tough on Democrats but soft-ball Trump and Republicans? You see, Chris, it works both ways. Only political homers can't see that. The media on BOTH sides are biased as hell.

There is a lot in the bill that really shouldn't have been included. State and local governments, for example, are already sitting on billions of dollars from the first stimulus bill. Why send them more? The bill should have focused only on helping the unemployed, hard-hit businesses and industries (including the aviation industry), vaccine distribution and reopening schools. Nothing else needed to be included, but of course, this is Washington we're talking about. Bloated pork-laden bills are kinda their thing. And before anyone says it, no, I am not a Trump supporter (can't stand him and glad he is out of office) nor a Republican. I'm a Democrat who wants to help people but doesn't want to bankrupt the country in the process.

You do realize that Keystone XL was being built to bring in oil from Alberta, Canada to refineries in the Gulf, right? I'm pretty sure Canada counts as an outside source of oil, which is why Alberta leaders were so ticked off when Biden signed the EO. Even their progressive PM Justin Trudeau criticized the move. Keystone being dead hurts them more than it hurts the U.S. The lack of refining capacity in the Gulf due to multiple factors has been a major contributor to the price of gas going up.
