Safe landing on the beach in Ft. Lauderdale (KFLL – actually Dania, FL) of a 172; video has pretty good view of the landing on a soft field / sand. (wsvn.com) More...Finland detects GPS disturbance near Russia's Kaliningrad

Submitted
While not physically in Brownsville, TX (actually located in Harlingen), nearest city I typically think of in this region of Texas is Brownsville. Can not think of any of airports currently getting longer runways (correct if wrong...); from article -- The $15.5 million construction project will lengthen the runway (17R/35L) from 8,301 feet to 9,400 feet. It is one of three runways in use at the airport. -- (www.yahoo.com) More...Cairn Energy sues Air India to enforce $1.2 billion arbitration award

Business stuff with Air India; found this claim in lawsuit / article as significant --- The lawsuit argued that the carrier as a state-owned company, is "legally indistinct from the state itself". "The nominal distinction between India and Air India is illusory and serves only to aid India in improperly shielding its assets from creditors like (Cairn)," the filing said. --- Will be interesting to see how this ends up. Some potential new tech for engine noise (and other?) suppression for engines; wonder if this may be useful for super sonic flight or stealth(y) aircraft. --- When scientists tested the new aerogel material's sound absorption abilities, they successfully reduced the roar of an airplane engine by 16 decibels, making a jumbo jet sound more like a hair dryer. -- (www.upi.com) More...Russian Flight from Moscow, (DME) Russian Federation into EU Airspace
