What? You're against having people pull their own weight by having to pay for their own healthcare? Or you'd prefer that the US government still pick up the tab for those who can't - or more importantly won't - pay for it? Sounds like you need to get out into the world a bit more, and educate yourself, just a bit.

It's overreach but it has nothing to do with Obama. This is what I referred to in my comments regarding vitriol and Fox News. The mind-set of overreach was clearly started and perfected by George W, perfectly illustrated by the wholesale swallowing of the necessity of the Iraq war. People swallowed it hook, line, and sinker. Even many many Democrats, disappointingly. And it took off from there. I hardly see how anything in the Obama administration can be referred to as overreach - and please don't mention the Affordable Health Care act. Government overreach started an administration - at least - before Obama was wisely voted into office.

But this is precisely what Americans want! It's precisely what they cheer about! It's precisely the reason why small towns, virtually the size of hamlets, have SWAT teams fitted out with the latest gear, trying their darndest to look like Navy SEALs so that so many policemen, unable to find employment elsewhere, can have their Walty Mitty moment. We've lost the thread. With so many people addicted to the vitriol of Fox News (and who think it's actually news), to name just one example of the kind of conservative nut-case chest-thumping that has infected political discourse, it's no wonder we praise hard-handedness - until it happens to us, of course. We see this at airports. As anyone who has ever flown internationally knows, there used to be a day when you'd return home from overseas and be greeted with a friendly, possibly indifferent smile at Immigration. No more. The long lines I can stand - unpleasant, but I get it. But what has become intolerable is the ego inflation that start

Why would the captain "suicide" himself and everyone else "aboard" if pressurization failed? This kind of speculation is worse than that of the US's CNN.

No, not for smoking pot. For being so self-absorbed in his "I'm so f-ing wonderful" fantasy that he and his entourage think they're above it all. For believing that they can abuse anything and anyone who get in their way, for the sole reason that he's a "star" - or worse, and "artist". For abusing people who were certainly doing their best to be civil, who want to keep their jobs, and for being an all-around jerk. When it's all said and done, he's just another run-of-the-mill an a--hole.

Good call by the captain and crew. Besides the fact that none of the rules are complicated, a group like that has no right to hold other passengers hostage and distract aircrew simply because they're teenagers and amped up for a trip. They weren't the only ones on the plane. And a complete thumbs-down for the parents/chaperones.

"Liberal lying Democrats"? What are you, 6 years old? I have a hard time facing up to the fact these days that any discourse in the US, any at all, is inevitably politicized by pinheads like you. By the way, I'm American, born and raised there, and now in Europe. As an adult, you presumably have adult responsibilities like mortgages, job tasks, and possibly kids, so how - how on earth - did you get to the point in your life as a grown man where you're not ashamed or embarrassed to use the words "liberal lying Democrats", with the emphasis on "liberal"? Or were you always that small on the intellectual side? Apparently the word "liberal" for you automatically and neatly wraps up all the information you need in order to take the long view when it comes to summing up political life in America. You've forgotten, purposely omitted, or - God forbid, you're one of them - the Tea Party, the American national embarrassment, and how it successfully turned political debate into a pissing contest
