United E175 (Skywest 494J) Suffers Nose Gear Failure and Lands at San Antonio International
Skywest 494J operating Embraer E175 as United traveled departed Houston Bush (KIAH) enroute to Monterey MX (MMMY) and had gear problem. They also diverted the day before. I wonder if it is just a coincidence?
I'd bet it isn't a coincidence, but I don't gamble. If it is for the same reason then that brings up s whole set of new questions.
With only 55 people maybe they should have all used the front slides only.....looks like quite a straight drop from the rear.
Maybe too low for the slide to work. Maybe ust use an oversize carryon for a step.
I wondered that too. Perhaps there was a small amount of smoke or fire from the nose sliding on the pavement when they started the evac.
