The real reason for this smear campaign is hidden down in the story. USAF is afraid it will kick the butt of their beloved F-35 hunk of junk that won't work and that they despise the CAS mission for the Army. I have said many a time; give the planes/pilot/mission to the Army and/or Marines. Marines have a good aviation arm. I bet they'd willing take them in place of the F35 fixing to get hung on them that won't meet their specs, and don't worry about it. When they do that, Congress needs to be sure and move the budget from USAF to the Army/Marines.

You are probably right, but given the high level of opposition coupled with re-deployment to Germany and Iraq/Syria, the Pentagon/AF will have to turn over the data. There are just too many people looking a the issue. Hopefully a few of them are being sent to support the Marines ISIS is about to attack in Iraq.
The reasonable and prudent person test would favor doing so. However, it would make the A-10 look good at the wrong time for the AF agenda.
