The paint scheme makes the plane look smaller than it really is. This can make the opposing pilot think that the plane is farther away than it really is. It is similar to the reason that some paint schemes include a canopy painted on the bottom of the plane (so you are not sure which way it will turn).
This wings paint scheme looks suspiciously, by the shape and size, a wing of F-4 Phantom ...
