CONVAIR CV-580 (C-GRSC)

This old Convair 580 built in 1953 is owned by Environment Canada. It is operated by the Canadian Geodetic Reference System Committee, hence the registration C-GRSC. It is equipped with synthetic aperture radars (SAR), simultaneous C-band imaging and a variety of other sophisticated sensors. Mapping can be performed on either side of the aircraft at an altitude of 22,000 feet. It is primarily used in agriculture, forestry and ice thickness detection.
