AVIATION TRADERS Carvair (N89FA)
N89FA C-54 Skymaster / Carvair (cn27249)
Built in 1944 for the USAAF as 44-9023 it was converted shortly after WW2 to a DC-4 operating for US, Mexican, Panamanian, Bolivian operators until the early 1970’s when Aviation Traders of the United Kingdom rebuilt the frame as a ATL.98 Carvair then operated by British United Air Ferries (VF) for cross-channel car ferry services and named “Fat Annie.” In 1979 the aircraft returned to the US under private ownership and stored until 1986.
The airframe was refurbished and made airworthy in 1998 after 12 years of storage. It was last operated as a skydiving jump ship for Gator Global Flying Services in 2006 and is understood to have resided at Gainesville Municipal Airport (GLE) since.
