McDonnell Douglas FA-18 Hornet (16-3994)
In this shot, United States Marine Corps VMFAT-101 "Sharpshooters" Major Luke "Maj" Borgan has prepped his F-18D (163994) for flight and is just about to close the canopy and taxi out from the Atlantic Aviation ramp for takeoff to MCAS Miramar.
Major Borgan is assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Training Squadron 101 (VMFAT-101), Marine Aircraft Group 11 (MAG 11), 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California.

During our brief conversation, I discovered that Major Borgan's fellow VMFAT-101 pilot and good friend was, many years ago, one of my students when I was a high school Language Arts teacher. Despite how huge the earth is, it can, at times, be a very small world.
