Is this an original 737 with retrofitted winglets ? How old is the airframe ?
737s are bought by the US Military and turned into C-40s by adding any military avionics, communication systems, or defense systems. And sometimes 737's are re-cycled into C-40s, so it is an original 737. Looks like the same winglets to me, and I don't know how old the airframe is. How would you even know hold an aircraft's airframe is anyways?
I'm pretty sure her logbooks would tell you her TTAF.
Nice shot, John. And if the serial number of 165833 is correct then this is a US Navy C-40A. Here is more info from Joe Baugher's website:
"Boeing C-40A Clipper, Model 737-7AF Series 700, 165833, MSN 32597/1069. Named *City of Dallas*. Damaged on ground at Shannon Airport, Ireland by peace activist Jan 29, 2003. VR-59 Active sep08 mar19. Still VR-59 noted Ft Worth-Alliance 09AUG22"
Also, the ICAO Type Code will be: B737. That code includes all the C-40s.
