Does it matter that the bomb bay doors are open during flight?
Diana Rose, it does if you want to drop your bombs, it is a bomber after all.
My Dad flew B-25s in WWII so there has always been a soft spot in my heart.
It looks like "Panchito" and I took a ride on it several years back. This aircraft was assigned to my Dad's outfit on Corsica, 310th BG (M).

Diana Rose Bombs are dropped by the bomber in flight. That can only happen with the bombay doors open.
A few years ago when we were flying airshows, We were flying a Doulas A-26 INVADER 100 MPH Faster Than the B-25. That required us to pull back the power to keep in place. Some of the Guys in the B-25 opened the rear gunner's hole and posted a sign that said Follow me "George". We were close enough to read it. All in the fun of flying the airshows!!!
what bombs? Don't even do that in air shows!
Help him! Help the bombardier!
Last thing some of the Axis soldiers saw...
