GENERAL MOTORS TBM-3E AVENGER

I never realized the difference between TBM and TBF Avengers. So, the lesson here is that if you go to a museum you might actually learn something! ;-) And another thing I learned is that when you're standing next to one a TBM is actually pretty big.

Greg - the first time I encountered a "live" Avenger, that's the same impression as I had... just how incredibly large this a/c is!!! :-)

The first plane I ever actually walked up to and touched. It was at Fort Huachuca Armed Forces day 1954 and I was 5 years old. I was amazed at the size of this plane and dreamed about it for years to come. On another note, one was lost somewhere in northern Arizona this May 6th or 7th 2018. The crew relocating a new purchase from California to somewhere in the mid-west. The plane developed an engine problem and the new owner/pilot and his pilot passenger bailed our somewhere near Fort Apache. The odd thing is that the plane righted itself following the the crews departing and it continued eastward. To date the FAA inline accident report indicates it as still missing somewhere possibly in the deep forests of Arizona. If anyone hears that this plane has been found please share the news. It too was a true beauty. N337VT

That's pretty interesting Phil, thanks. And coincidentally I am at Ft. Huachuca as I type this.
