I still think this is the best fighter jet ever made for the USAF. I worked on them from 1977 till 1982. They are still kicking round out there. Haingin in there with the C-130s and the B-52s. Those are the top dogs of those 3 classes in the AF right now. Dont care how good any of the newer ones are. Cant beat the classics.
Dan,
I agree with you 100%. F-15C is my jet of choice.

Indeed Dan we do get attached to the ones we worked on. Although I never worked on AF acft, I did arrive in St. Louis to work for MCDD very shortly after the plane in the pic came off the assembly line. I loved to go out at lunch and watch the AF acceptance flight ops for F-15s at lunch. Lambert Field had clearance for what was known as a "Vanguard" departure, which consisted of rotating to vertical before crossing the numbers, lighting AB and only leveling off after reaching "military airspace", about FL300 or so. I never tired of watching them go...
Thanks all.
F-15 is still the main force in Japan's defense.
F-15 will continue to protect the Japanese sky for a while due to its excellent airframe design.
