Boeing 747-400 (VH-OJH) - This is the famous Bangkok Golf Course aircraft! On the 23rd September 1999, the aircraft was landing in Bangkok on flight QF1 Sydney - Bangkok - London Heathrow when the runway was soaking wet because of a storm. The aircraft skidded off the end of the runway and landed on a Golf Course! I bet any poor golfers had to run for their lives! Thankfully, none of the passengers or crew were seriously injured and Qantas were able to repair the aicraft and therefore keep their age-old never lost a jet saying! The aircraft was however out of service for 18 months. This aircraft entered service with Qantas in 1990 and after 22 years of excellent service was retired in the summer (Australian winter) of 2012. The aircraft is photographed here on Sunday 18th March 2012 landing at London Heathrow at the end of flight QF29 from Melbourne via Hong Kong. The aircrafts final revenue flight for Qantas was QF64 from Johannesburg to Sydney on the 3rd - 4th September 2012. After that, she was flown empty to Marana in the USA, where she is currently waiting for a new owner.
