Aviation executive urges Boeing to ditch ‘MAX’ name for future planes
The chairman of a large aircraft leasing firm wants Boeing to ditch the MAX moniker for its long-grounded fleet of planes. (nypost.com) المزيد...I think the MAX name is supposed to convey the message of "maximum 737 modifications we'll perform".
In the words of the noted American philosopher P. T. Barnum, "There's a sucker born every minute".
There are examples for name changes in industry.
Arthur Anderson consulting got hit with huge scandals and now the company is Accenture.
On the other hand after numerous Comet aircraft disasters they still kept the Comet name and it flew for a long time although maybe with lost customers.
Changing the name wont fix the basic problems with the plane but the media and public are quick to forget and changing the name to something like the 737-1000 will probably help to remove the stigma of the Max name.

Rebranding the name won't do any good for the flying public. The press will get hold of the new name, and those in the industry who don't care for Boeing will ensure the publicity hounds the new name.
The best way, IMHO, is for Boeing to ensure the stability of the A/C to the flying public. In time the fear will subside.

IN FACT IT WILL FURTHER BUILD DISTRUST.. Thete are too many physical identifications for the Max.. scalop engine necelles as one example..
Dont sell the public short, rebranding woukd be a terrible mistake..
OH YEA... WHO IS GOING TO FLY THESE?.. NOT A SINGLE PILOT UNION HAS COME OUT IN FAVOR OF THIS DEATH TRAP.
NO ONE WANTS TO DISCUSS THIS DO THEY..
