Delta 1050 Heavy: "We are declaring an emergency"

On our return flight from Gabreski to Linden we heard this emergency saga involving the pilot of Delta flight number DL1050 on his approach to JFK. We were truly concerned for the flight that carried 80 souls on board. I have to say that the Delta pilot and NY ATC were very cool and professional throughout the incident.
