Now boarding: Canada's newest, coolest airport
From your first steps inside the new air terminal building at James Armstrong Richardson International Airport, you'll likely be struck by two seemingly contradictory sentiments -- "this can't be Winnipeg" and "this is SO Winnipeg." (www.winnipegfreepress.com) المزيد...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Well I'm glad you mentioned that, John. lol. That brings me to the 2nd article of the series.
~Terminal case of energy efficiency - Building designed for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification~
"It may turn out to be the most energy-efficient building of its size in the world, according to the engineers on the project."

Thanx for posting that. I grew up in Saskatoon where wind chills in January were often colder than -80 many mornings. I hope they are right, but remain entirely skeptical given the poor R value of glass (around 5 when treated with metal coating). Hopefully they will give us an update in the spring if they survive.
Hard to believe, John. Record low for Saskatoon is -44° (1947). lol. Saskabush people always exaggerate. My parents were from Saskabush.
Wind chill in early morning...not absolute temp. Frostbite common at University Hospital for folks who thought it was only -20, but didn't take into account the wind during the Canada Winter Games. Only North Battleford to break that North wind.

I better keep quite, Dr. D. I think you may know some of my kinfolk and I don't want to be admitted under your care for foot in mouth disease.
CORR: quiet
Maybe they believed all the Global Warming fraud and expect a tropical future but now "Winnipeg is the coldest city in the world with a population of over 600,000 based on the average night-time temperature during December, January and February, inclusive"! (Environment Canada)
