Romney thinks airplane windows should open in case of fire

Ann Romney's plane made an emergency landing due to an electrical fire, so Mitt Romney says plane windows should open to let in oxygen when that happens. Never mind that 1) oxygen feeds fire, 2) there isn't that much of it at FL300, and 3) the plane would explode because of the pressure differential. Romney's comments are in the 7th paragraph, a little way down the page. ( More...

that makes about as much sense as a screen door on a submarine
It'll keep the fish out!!!
Jeremy Kudlick 11
I don't care whose politics you prefer, that comment is just stupid. Wait, sorry, it wasn't "elegantly stated."
Don Thomson 5
Hmmmm. This doesn't improve my general opinion of the quality of candidates for public office. Not that it was very high to begin with. <Biting Lip, Hard>

Is an IQ test part of the screening process, or just a high bank account balance?
Tim Smith -1
If you think you can do a better job then please run for office.
Jeremy Kudlick 4
There are only 3 requirements: 35 years of age, natural-born US citizen, and live in the US for at least 14 years. We have millions of qualified citizens, and our choices are *THESE* knucklesheads?
You chose them, the people of this country elect their government, so if the people are unhappy, maybe its our fault that we don't have better leaders in office. And it's very naive to think that these three requirements cut it to be president of the United States. Try to live one hour of the president and you will see that it is one of the most difficult jobs to run a country. As said before, if you are unhappy, then try to run for office, mind that its not easy to get elected.
Jeremy Kudlick -1
First: *knuckleheads*

Second: I was trying to reply to Tim's reply to Don's reply to Joel...

Worst. Forum Software. Ever. Of all time.
Don Thomson 2
Lemme, check. IQ=153. Bank Account= OMG! Too Low. <chuckle>

Can't, reference Don's comment and my bank statement. :)
HA HA!!!
This was actually in response to Kudlick's "politics you prefer" comment. Everything's going in the wrong spot!!!

oh boy... I don't expect the guy to be an expert on aircraft design - to know that that kind of thing simply wouldn't work... But I thought it was common knowledge that oxygen makes fires worse?!
Jeremy Kudlick 2
"The two most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity."

"Common sense isn't common."

Two of my favorite sayings. :)

And this man could be the leader of our country?

maybe he wanted the plane to burn so that he could say "OOOOPs there goes my tax records"

Link takes me to the wrong article, here's another.
Don Thomson 1
It appears the linking/sorting algorithm used by this software is the same method used by my kids in playing card games -- "just throw 'em in a big pile, scrunch 'em around, and deal 'em out. What don't you get about it, Dad?"

Ahhhh -- just goes to show you -- you can't take things too seriously.

If you have a fire do you really want to add more oxygen?

A later clarification stated that he was joking. What else is he joking about? Well, there is always .....

Yanno, more than anything from the last admin, I miss the Bush-ism's.... While this might not quite be "Jungly" or "Nuklar", Its from the same page lmao.

Don't talk about what you know nothing about!
Can't really blame him for something he doesn't know. Ignorance is abundant, kinda like a lotta women and weenie men who think that a car's oil lasts a lifetime...

Romney mocked for airplane remark

“When you have a fire in an aircraft, there’s no place to go, exactly, there’s no — and you can’t find any oxygen from outside the aircraft to get in the aircraft, because the windows don’t open. I don’t know why they don’t do that. It’s a real problem. So it’s very dangerous. And she was choking and rubbing her eyes. Fortunately, there was enough oxygen for the pilot and copilot to make a safe landing in Denver. But she’s safe and sound.”

I60% of your check going for taxes then another 19% VAT ( tax) on everything you buy. Fuel at $8.00 a gallon. Europe, our future. Greece and Spain. somebody has to pay for it and it will be those of us that collect a paycheck. Vote for the person you think can do the best job at navigating the upcoming storm.
Mary Krupa 0
He meant open so you can see what is going on outside, which exit to use.
I want my window (shades) open too. Most people don't understand it is a safety issue. Get the facts, basic 101 safety preparation.

WOW! If anyone has seen the video you'll all see that this was complete sarcasm.
Jack Whetten -3
I agree with Romney BTW
Chase Tompkins -3
You think he was being sarcastic? This is a place for aviation not the 2012 election. Take it somewhere else.
Sarcasm does not translate in print.

Who are you calling stupid? Certainly not our 1st affirmative action prez who visited 57 states or the gaffe machine himself who can look at a guy in a wheel chair and tell him to stand up to take a bow.
Foxtrot789 1
Ya, as soon as I heard about this I immediately thought to myself 'well, sounds like something i'd say' There's probably a huge number of people that think i'm the dumbest person living for all the completely dry and sarcastic comments I've muttered.

Mitt Romney, Plane Windows and Bond, James Bond

You’ve already read a million opinions on this so I’ll keep mine brief and then skip to a video.
