I guess there was a crash in 2007 or 2009, flight from New York to Buffalo where the crash was attributed to fatigued crew. The first officer had traveled from SFO in a cargo plane and the PIC too had been sleepless and without rest earlier. And it is believed that this crash raised an out cry which eventually made FAA to revise rest rules.
It was assumed that American operators will see the light of the day .
But have they ? To this day ?

He rest rules have been implemented, but they apply only to passenger aircraft. Cargo planes are exempt. However, in the UPS crash, at the time of the incident, both pilots met the new rest requirements that had recently been instituted for passenger aircraft pilots.

Working overnight is tough. It is ultimately the responsibility of the pilots themselves to get sufficient rest before flying.
