there are persons (really there are),who dont just sit with headphones on or play with their phones or text or facebook or whatever, with their own devices while waiting for a plane..those are the people who actually might enjoy getting a sandwich or coffee and watching some cnn news feed..

it is about time this was done..the intent of having air marshalls on board was not to stop the passenger who had too many drinks from being a jerk, but to actually catch onboard someone who might pose a serious threat to the entire plane full of passengers and the crew..they were not supposed to be the "schoolteacher" handling temper tantrums or drunks..the faa will need to change the program if that is their new duties..

the federal "no fly" list was started as a way to screen possible terrorist threats to an aiplane,or to catch someone who may be on an fbi list..the airlines "no fly" lists are persons who have been disruptive on a flight, caused a fight or other such, and if they interfere with a crew member on that airline, they can be banned, but possibly fly on another carrier as they are not terrorists, but just people who are nasty or rude...

i remember several years back ,having a passenger tell me it was cheaper to buy "through" ticket for a a flight that went iah/ord/yul, and just get off the plane during the layover in ord, which was his destination anyway, then just not re board..he did it all the time he said..that was however, prior to a much more security oriented system and tickets that were scrutinized.."direct" flights and nonstop are often confused by passengers, and they are not the same..its just that airlines (befor people were booking thmeselves onlne)would forget to clarify you were on a flight that had a so called "stopover..

this sort of thing is not funny, nor does it make a point of any kind..its stupid and scary..

i will say, good for that pikot! it is his responsibility to assure that all passengers and crew get safely to their destination, without incidents, threats, chanting or whatever else they might want to do..and yes,to require they wear masks per regulations..this was not some kind of MAGA charger after all..it was a scheduled commercial flight...

the difference is that up until now, an "emotional support animal", could be carried on board without being in carrier, and sit on the persons lap if the size was small enough..an ordinary traveller who just wanted to take their cat,or their small dog who would fit into a carry on sized kennel to fit under a seat, had to pay for the privilege..its a good move because so many people did abuse the "emotional support" clause..a "service animal",which is about 99% of the time a dog like a labrador or golden retriever,is always well trained, stays only with the owner, must sit at the feet of the owner while on board, wear a service vest, and are not to be petted nor touched unless the owner says its ok..i worked with many and never had an issue, as opposed to people with a turtle or a bird or some other such who insisted they were for emotional support!

SERVICE DOGS ARE WONDERUL NECESSARY ANIMALS AND VERY WELL BEHAVED ON FLIGHTS..THEY USUALLY SIT AT THEIR OWNERS FEET AND ONLY MOVE WHEN TOLD TO..I DEALT WITH MANY IN MY AIRLINE YEARS..A "SUPPORT ANIMAL" IS DIFFEENT HOWEVER AND OFTEN ABUSED EXCUSE..I HAD A LADY ONCE WITH A "SUPPORT GOOSE"!!
