Trump Takes Aim at U.S. Air Traffic Control Spending (and other things)

تم الإرسال

U.S. President Donald Trump lamented what he called an out-of-date U.S. air traffic control system on Thursday, but also criticized current modernization efforts as the "wrong system" and too expensive. "I hear we're spending billions and billions of dollars, it's a system that's totally out of whack," Trump told a meeting of airline and U.S. airport executives, referring to the air traffic control system. Crap. I convinced my boss to upgrade to ADS-B early and now he wants to pull the plug. I guess I can put the equipment in the garage next to the MLS stuff! I use the MLS boxes to keep my water heater off of the garage floor.

I wonder....is there ANY AREA Trump WON'T FRIGGIN' CRITICIZE, AND YET WON'T HELP, ONLY THREATEN TO HURT?

Yes. There must be one. Somewhere.
There is no such thing as zero probability. But your question pushes that limit.

I didn't see mention of possible ATC privatization inthis article, but other coverage indicates that it was also a topic:

He will try to privatize and we will pay like most other countries fir IFR services at the least and probably landing fees as well

This coming from a guy that knows nothing about planes even though he has a few. He is flying one of the worst planes out there and "he got a great deal" on the 757, but he also got a very old gas guzzling old plane as well. Almost all airlines are getting rid of them. He thinks its "best ever"...I dont think so!

So spending 10 billion at year to operate the ATC system is acceptable but 3 billion over 10 years to execute the massive upgrade is too expensive. Makes sense...

Ah. Third grade hyperbolic nonsense. Must be important.

We need to cut out the money we give away to foreign countries, providing security for countries for free, and stop subsidies to profitable industries. Instead, spend it on starving children and our infrastructure.

Putting all the politics aside, it is going to pay dividends having a president who has more than a cursory knowledge of aviation and has been a heavy user of FAA services. The FAA just went up many places on the funding ladder in the Washington "swamp".

And he has said the head of the FAA should be a pilot. I imagine his selection process is to look thru his list of donors contributing more than $10 mil and find one with a pilot's license- sport pilot license will do.

"I hear we're spending billions and billions of dollars, it's a system that's totally out of whack." That IS a cursory knowledge. The Buffoon-in-Chief knows nothing about government operations of any kind.

But that is what he always does...opens mouth, inserts his foot and then blames others..great example is him asking his national security advisor if a strong dollar is good or bad for the economy "Sorry sir but I'm your security advisor, not your chief economist"...you're the "self made billionaire", cant you figure it out??

Well you may be interested in government operations but Nexgen is aviation related. He's already talking to his OWN pilots for their opinions. That's more than any predecessor had done.

Just like he talked to his security advisor about the economy...be like me asking a kid on the street riding his bicycle, if Esso was good gas.

Last I checked, the FAA IS a government agency, and the ATC system IS a government operation. And Trump gets a lot of bad advice from a lot of people, as the first days of his misadmisistration have proved.
