American adds Iceland flights as competition surges

This will be a long flight on a 757!!! I don't see how American, United, and Delta think they will make money on this route. Sounds like everyone pounding their chest on a money loosing route to me!!!
What's the big deal? Icelandair currently flies non-stop now btwn SEA-KEF - about the same distance as DFW-KEF on a 757.
Icelandair also is doing this same run from PDX as well, also on a B757. Very popular route, as well.
I have taken the flight several times - very enjoyable.
