Porter Airlines Prepares To Become The Embraer E2's North American Launch Customer
Canada's Porter Airlines is gearing up for the delivery of the first Embraer E2 aircraft in North America. In March, the airline shared photos of the aircraft on the production line at Embraer's facilities in São José Dos Campos, Brazil. Since then, the airline has also posted updates of its first Embraer aircraft being painted and receiving its wings. (simpleflying.com) المزيد...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
Awesome looking aircraft! No Middle Seats!!!!! But not in America due to some stupid "Scope Clause"??
Airlines in the USA could acquire E2 aircraft, but scope clauses in major airline pilot contracts prevent their use by regional partner airlines flying for the majors. The smallest of the three E2 variants, the E175-E2, is just a bit too big and too heavy to meet the scope clause requirements for regional flying, but too small for mainline use, so no one is buying it. The larger variants, E190-E2, and E195-E2 which Porter is buying, occupy the same space in the market as the Airbus A220, but USA airlines looking at both have so far opted for the A220 - Delta, jetBlue, Breeze.
The scope clause is to help stop the industries race to the bottom!
